Description

To make this Big Ben Scratching Post we first make a scale model of the famous London Clock Tower from scratch using furniture grade particle board. This is the same stuff that most high street kitchen cabinets are made from. Once the model is complete we spend the next 3 hours painstakingly attaching the premium grade 8mm thick chunky sisal rope to the tower. This is not an easy task as thick rope doesn't naturally want to bend and stick to right angled corners!

With such a large, heavy scratching post, you need to ensure its stable - so we've opted to give the Big Ben a very large 50cm square base which is around 1 inch thick. This adds weight, and massively aids stability. To complete the theme, the large base is wrapped in vibrant London fabric featuring some of London's famous landmarks and tourist attractions.

This is a rock solid scratching post suitable for even the biggest breeds. The base fixes to the tower with all metal stainless steel fixings.

As with all of our top selling scratching posts, we use 8mm sisal rope on this post and the cats love scratching it. We're so confident that your cat will use this post that we offer a money back guarantee if your cat doesn't like it.

This is a handmade item (made in Devon) and is very labour intensive to produce as I'm sure you can imagine. It's not a cheap mass produced Chinese item.

Assembly is very easy and no tools are required.

Please be aware: sisal rope is a natural rope and as such the colour of the rope may vary slightly according to the time of year. Sisal rope is an abrasive rope and although ideal for cat scratching posts, we advise you to handle with care to avoid injury. We also advise you to inspect the scratching post regularly and replace when worn. All our products are now wrapped in 8mm sisal rope. Although this rope is slightly thinner than previously used (pre-March 2018), it's a higher grade premium quality sisal rope manufactured specifically for ScratchyCats, some web site photos may show the older thicker 10mm sisal rope no longer used.
